This really does not need an introduction! The most beautiful flowering plant for shady woodland gardens. It is not the easiest plant to grow for those of you in warmer, drier areas but if you can give it an evenly moist, rich slightly acid soil in shade then you will be most handsomely rewarded. It is a short-lived perennial, plants growing strongly will produce offsets which will flower the next year.
To give a fighting chance of success the plants supplied should flower the coming spring. Once flowering has finished, remove the flower heads. From the 2nd year on you can keep the seedheads and collect the seed.
