Common names...where to start! The two best known are 'Lords and Ladies' and Cuckoo-Pint .
A lovely, familiar native plant of woodlands with their unusual spring time spathe and summer red berries. A superb companion plant for ferns and hostas. New glossy leaves emerge in late autumn as deciduous ferns lose their fronds, making great use of the ground for year round interest. Large yellow'green spathes appear in spring followed by spikes of bright red berries.
Very easy to grow in full or partial shade and require virtually no maintenance. At their very best in moist shade where they will form an attractive carpet of winter foliage, but also tolerant of drier shade once established.
