A beautiful and dramatic fern. 'Virginia Blue' is a particularly well coloured variety of this species. Hardy in zone 8 gardens but needs a sloping, sheltered site to grow well. Winter wet will kill this fern. It spreads by golden-orange furry rhizomes so needs good drainage. Excellent as a house and/or container plants.
