A rarely available Fritillaria, yet a surprisingly easy one to grow given sun, moisture-retentive fertile soil and good drainage.
The waxy chocolate-purple flowers, green-yellow inside, appear around April. A small species, it grows to about 15cm which makes it ideal for pots and Alpine beds. It does multiply well when happy.
