Don't panic!
This is not the size of G. manicata but a much.....much smaller relative from Patagonia, only growing about 10cm tall. It is hardy in all but the coldest areas and will remain evergreen in mild areas. It is best to mulch in autumn with leaf mould in colder areas, or during prolonged freezing spells. It will creep along quite happily in damp soils with its surface roots providing excellent ground-cover. We find a little shade is best in summer as long hot spells can cause leaf loss but it will soon recover in the autumn. A not often offered delight for the garden!
