An easy to grow aroid. Perfect for woodland gardens, it prefers a rich, moisture retentive soil. and will clump readily where happy. It is native to wetland areas in New England and prefers damp soils but not waterlogged. Mulch each autumn with leaf mould for excellent results.
It first produces a characteristic three lobed leaf, the flowering shoot emerges shortly after, sporting a 6-8cm purple/green and white/cream striped spathe (outer flower). A spike of red berries may follow in aitumn.
It grows about 40-50cm tall and flowers April through May.
