The Little Sweet Betsy.
A stunning bulbous (more accurately a rhizomous) perennial from the southern USA, the most vigorous of the Trilliums. It flowers from March through April. The flowers are maroon, or occasionally green and bronze, in colour. It also sports three mottled leaves, very attractive in their own right. It dies down completely from autumn through winter.
Very hardy (-15C), it thrives in moisture retentive soil in light or dappled shade.
